I’m a freelance photographer based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Most of my work-photography involves models, bands and quirky-but-not-overly-offensive stuff (apart from the art commissions, but those are a different story). While I do sometimes get to indulge my passion for the darker, more bizarre side of life in the course of my work and you will see some work-photography posted here, this place is more of an outlet for my fun-photography, the recreational stuff that doesn’t sit too comfortably elsewhere.
I post some of my horror/fetish work on deviantART and most of it on Flickr but both those sites require people to be logged in and actively choosing to access ‘mature content’ material to look at gory or violent stuff. Which is perfectly reasonable. I also post a bit of my strange and scary work on my portfolio site but it has to sit alongside my more ‘normal’ photography and not scare people away from booking me for model portfolio shoots.
So I needed somewhere to put all the dark stuff, somewhere that people didn’t have to be logged in to view the images, and somewhere that I could post all (or most of) the photos from shoots without worrying about upload space or an over-crowded portfolio or gallery. And this is it. I’ve owned ViolentlyBeautiful.com for a few years and ran it a couple of years back as an alt model portfolio site. When I shut that site down I held on to the domain and resurrected it at the start of 2008.

That’s me up there…how much do you trust a photographer’s self-portraits?
I’m 28 years old and live in an old apartment with my husband, two cats and more computers than two people realistically need. I’m obsessed with shiny things, other people’s faces and anything that can hold my attention for more than five minutes. I have been taking photos since my hands were big enough to hold a camera. Art is my passion as well as my job.
As photography goes, I get a kick out of make-up, lighting, in-camera framing and all that other stuff people did back in ye olde days before digital cameras and the Great High Exalted Photoshop. I don’t tend to crop images (unless I shoot with a square format in mind, for example) and while I do shoot digital (most of the time) I don’t usually do anything to a photo that can’t be done in RAW processing. I can digitally remove scars, wrinkles and track marks and I can digitally shrink a waist and enlarge breasts, but I don’t. I take photos of people with all their quirks and flaws intact and I like them to stay that way.
If you want to say hello or have a chat, you can email me or find me at the following places online: Flickr, ModelMayhem, MySpace, LiveJournal, deviantART, AltDiva, TalentDatabase and FaceBook.
